This policy covers Gurukul AI — the website, the Android app, and the exam preparation services behind them. It explains what we collect about you, why, who else sees it, and what you can ask us to do about it.
We have written it to be read by a student and by a parent. Where we had a choice between a precise word and a clear one, we chose the clear one.
To create your account

To decide which exams you are eligible for
Indian recruitment boards set an age band for every exam and relax it by category. Without these we cannot tell you truthfully whether you can sit a paper.

To teach you
Your chosen exam and, where the exam requires it, your ITI trade, engineering discipline or banking role. Your preferred language. Your diagnostic results, which topics you are weak in, the questions you attempt and whether you got them right, how long you study, your streak and any badges.
If you pay
Which plan you are on and when it started. We never see or store your card, UPI or bank details — payment happens on Razorpay's systems, and they tell us only whether a payment succeeded.
Automatically
A device token if you allow notifications. The version of the Terms you accepted, when, and the IP address you accepted from — that record is what makes your acceptance meaningful.
We do not collect Aadhaar numbers. This was a deliberate decision: the application does not need one, and holding one creates a risk we would rather not carry on your behalf.
We do not track you across other websites, and we do not buy information about you from anyone.
Some parts of the service are provided by other companies. What each receives:

Read the AI section twice, because it is the one that surprises people. When you ask the tutor a question, that question is sent to an external AI provider to be answered. Do not type anything into it you would not want leaving the app — your Aadhaar number, a bank detail, someone else's private information. The app does not ask for any of those, and it does not need them.
We do not sell your information. We share it with the police or a court only when the law requires it.
You must be at least 13 to use Gurukul AI. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must consent before your account is activated, and we ask for your guardian's name for that reason.
A parent or guardian may ask us at any time to show them what we hold about their child, correct it, or delete it. Write to grievance@sajanatech.org.
Staff who administer the platform see your name and which exam you are preparing for. Your phone number, address, guardian's name and date of birth are hidden from them by default, and any time a member of staff reveals one, that fact is recorded against their name along with their stated reason.
Passwords are stored as one-way hashes. Traffic is encrypted in transit.
Our security log — which records that an interaction happened, so that abuse can be investigated — deliberately stores no message content: only the length of what was sent, and an identifier that is itself hashed. Where a message triggers a security rule, we keep a redacted excerpt of at most 50 characters, and no more.
No service can promise it will never be breached. If one affects you, we will tell you.
We keep your information for three years after you last sign in, after which it is deleted or anonymised.
If you ask us to delete your account, we anonymise your personal information within 30 days. Questions and answers you contributed to shared study material may remain, with nothing in them that identifies you.

Complaints are acknowledged within 24 hours and resolved within 15 days.
If we change this policy we will publish the new version here and, where the change is significant, ask you to read it when you next sign in. Previous versions are kept.
